Helmut Lang showcases the work of Carrie Mae Weems for the fifth installment of their artist series capsule collection. For the collection Helmut Lang makes use of her famous Kitchen Table Series, in which Weems' photographs herself to tell a story; The photos tell a story of a female protagonist as she is centered at the end of a kitchen table and composed vignettes about the life cycle of a romance, the companionship among friends, the demands of motherhood and finally her solitude, all unfolding at the table under a harsh, expository overhanging light.
The Helmut Lang Collection is composed of three garments along with three posters. The images on the shirts and posters are images taken from the twenty photo gallery created by Weems' in 1990. The photos chosen for the collection are: Untitled ( Woman standing alone), Untitled (Woman brushing hair), Untitled ( Man Reading Newspaper).The Collection is now available through Helmut Lang.
